PAC vs Alum RFQ Checklist | Grade, Pack, Cost per m³

Write the chemical form you actually dose today: alum lumps vs powder; PAC powder vs liquid. For PAC, ask for Al₂O₃ % and basicity on the COA — powder 28–30% and liquid 10–18% are different products. For alum, state ferric vs non-ferric (iron spec) if colour or potable use matters.

Add plant context in one paragraph: daily flow (m³/day), current dose (mg/L), pH correction chemicals already on site, and whether sludge goes to a belt press, centrifuge or drying bed. That is enough for a Vadodara desk to quote a trial pallet instead of a tanker you cannot use.

A lower alum bag price can still cost more per cubic metre if you dose 2–3× PAC and then add lime because pH crashed. Include: (1) coagulant kg/day from your last jar test or logbook, (2) alkali or acid used for pH correction, (3) sludge handling (bags, tanker, landfill fee). If you do not have jar-test numbers yet, request a 25–50 kg PAC trial against your current alum lot — do not change the annual contract on brochure claims.

PAC powder is hygroscopic. If your store is a tin shed in monsoon, specify 25 kg laminated bags, pallet wrap, and first-in-first-out. Liquid PAC needs HDPE/FRP tankage — do not order liquid if you only have a dry bay. Alum lumps tolerate poorer storage but still cake if bags sit on a wet floor.

Freight: powder PAC carries more Al₂O₃ per truck than liquid; alum is bulky relative to active aluminium. For Gujarat GIDC plants, mixed loads (PAC + polyelectrolyte + caustic) usually beat three separate dispatches. State delivery city and preferred pack on the RFQ.

Demand batch COA (Al₂O₃ / basicity for PAC; Al₂O₃ and Fe for alum), MSDS, and HSN on the invoice. PAC powder is typically invoiced under HSN 28273200. If a vendor cannot share a sample COA before PO, that is a documentation risk for ETP audits.
