Calcium hypochlorite (Ca(OCl)₂, 65–70% available chlorine) from Drashti Chemicals provides stable solid chlorine for swimming pools, rural water disinfection, cooling tower slug-dosing, and ETP oxidation across Gujarat. Higher available-chlorine content per kg than bleaching powder, with better shelf life when stored dry — preferred where liquid hypochlorite tank bunds are unavailable.

Granular vs. tablet: granular for dissolution in day tank; 200 g tablets for cooling tower sump and pool skimmers. Industrial 65% grade standard; confirm available chlorine on COA — reject below 60%. Calcium hypochlorite is alkaline when dissolved (pH 10–11) — unlike chlorine gas acidification — less corrosive to concrete tanks but adds hardness to water.

Dissolution: 1–3% w/v in HDPE tank with agitation; use clear supernatant for dosing. Water disinfection: 2–5 mg/L available chlorine with 30-minute contact. Cooling tower slug: 50–100 mg/L once weekly for bio-control. ETP: 100–300 mg/L for colour oxidation — dechlorinate with metabisulphite before bio-stage. Never mix with acid or ammonia.
