Supplying industrial chemicals from Vadodara since 2015 — ETP coagulants, RO programs, and process chemicals with batch COA/MSDS.
SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate), SLES (sodium lauryl ether sulphate) and AOS (alpha olefin sulphonate) are all anionic surfactants — but they are not drop-in substitutes. Pick the wrong one and you get harsh skin feel, collapsed foam in Gujarat hard water, or a powder plant trying to dose a liquid-only chemistry.

Drashti Chemicals supplies SLS powder and liquid, SLES paste and liquid, and AOS liquid from Vadodara as a stockist with batch COA — not a detergent contract manufacturer. Use this page to shortlist chemistry; neutralised LABSA (acid slurry) and builder systems are a separate formulation step.
Quick answer — which surfactant when
Powder laundry and low-cost cleaners: often LABSA neutralised to alkyl benzene sulphonate plus AOS or SLS for foam — see acid slurry / LABSA basics for the neutralisation path.
Shampoo, body wash and premium liquid detergents: SLES (~28% liquid or ~70% paste) is the usual mild ether sulphate; SLS powder or paste is harsher and cheaper — confirm INCI and your last COA before switching.
Hard-water foam and liquid laundry: AOS liquid (C14–16 olefin sulphonate family) often holds foam better than straight SLS when calcium is high — still jar your finished formula; water matters as much as surfactant.
SLS — alkyl sulphate, not ether
SLS (CAS 151-21-3) is the sodium salt of lauryl sulphate — strong foaming, cost-effective, can feel drying in leave-on personal care. Industrial detergent powders use SLS powder for flash foam; oral-care and cosmetic lines may need tighter impurity specs — state that on the RFQ.
Form: powder, liquid (~active on COA) or high-active paste. Do not confuse SLS paste with SLES paste — the PO must name alkyl vs ether sulphate.
SLES — milder ether sulphate for liquids
SLES (CAS 9004-82-4) is ethoxylated then sulphated — typically milder than SLS in rinse-off products. Common supply paths are ~28% liquid and ~70% paste; active matter, colour and pH on the COA drive your make-down tank sizing.
SLES is not a direct replacement for AOS in every laundry liquid — biodegradability and foam profile differ. If you are reformulating for cost, re-run foam height and viscosity on plant water, not only active %.
AOS — olefin sulphonate for laundry and hard water
AOS liquid (CAS family 68439-57-6) is valued in detergent powders and liquids for foam stability and tolerance to water hardness. Colour, free oil and active % vary by lot — match your last approved COA when reordering.
AOS complements rather than replaces LABSA in many Indian powder recipes; it is a different anionic class from SLS/SLES. Share your target active band and monthly MT on WhatsApp RFQ — we quote drums/IBC from Vadodara, no public ₹/kg list.
Documentation and RFQ fields
On every surfactant PO: chemical name (SLS vs SLES vs AOS), form (powder/liquid/paste), target active %, application (powder detergent vs shampoo), and pack (drum vs IBC). HSN for surfactant formulations is typically in the 3402 band — confirm on your GST invoice.

| Surfactant | Typical form | Common use | Watch-out |
|---|---|---|---|
| SLS | Powder / liquid / paste | Powder detergents, industrial cleaners | Harsh vs SLES in leave-on care |
| SLES | ~28% liq / ~70% paste | Shampoo, body wash, premium liquids | Not same as SLS paste on PO |
| AOS | Liquid | Laundry foam, hard water | Different from LABSA neutralised slurry |

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I replace SLES with SLS in shampoo to save cost?
Only after reformulation and stability testing — SLS is generally harsher and changes viscosity and preservative demand. Match CAS/INCI on the PO and compare COA impurity limits, not kg rate alone.
Is AOS the same as LABSA or acid slurry?
No. LABSA is sulphonic acid feedstock (acid slurry) that you neutralise; AOS is a finished olefin sulphonate liquid. Different SKUs and formulation roles.
Does Drashti supply all three from Vadodara?
Yes — SLS, SLES and AOS are catalog surfactants with batch COA. Share form, active target and monthly quantity on RFQ or WhatsApp; no list prices online.
