Food Grade vs Industrial Chemical: RFQ Checklist for Gujarat Food and Beverage Plants

Non-food process aid with no contact, adjacent textile or leather chemistry, and internal ETP where food limits are irrelevant — industrial/commercial grade with standard COA is appropriate if your legal and customer files agree.

If any SKU touches food, beverage, nutraceutical, or packaging with food-contact claims, stop guessing and write food grade with the parameter table your QA uses.

End use (bakery preservative, beverage acidulant, confection syrup), grade word (food / pharma / industrial), monthly quantity, pack type, delivery city, and mandatory COA fields: assay, heavy metals, microbiology if applicable, lot-to-invoice match.

Attach last accepted COA scan when switching suppliers — we match limits before quoting assay-equivalent stock.

Food plants often order acids, preservatives, starches and packaging chemicals on one PO. Segregate line items by grade — industrial HCl for CIP hardware is not the same line as food-grade citric for formulation.

Consolidate compatible food-grade SKUs (propionate, maltodextrin, liquid glucose) on one Vadodara dispatch; keep solvent and industrial-only lines on separate documentation.

Retain COA, MSDS, GST invoice with HSN, and inward QC sign-off per batch. Food-grade rejection at gate often traces to missing lot numbers or grade mismatch — not chemistry surprise.
